On November 17th, the MACBA Foundation hosted the inaugural dinner of the CIMAM 2016, International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art, which was held in Barcelona from 18th to 20th November.

The guests had a cocktail at El Internacional Tapas Bar & Restaurant (1984–86), part of the “Miralda. MADEINUSA” exhibition, a work that recreates the original restaurant from New York. Then they enjoyed a dinner at the Atrium Leopoldo Rodés Castañé.

CIMAM is an international forum of professional character for the discussion of theoretical, ethical and practical issues concerning the collection and exhibition of modern and contemporary art. The CIMAM’s 2016 edition has 510 Members from 74 different countries.

The Committee’s major objective is to develop cooperation and knowledge by identifying and responding to the needs and issues faced by cultural institutions.

The Annual Conference is CIMAM’s most important meeting throughout the year, and it is attended by directors of modern and contemporary art museums, curators and other professionals.

The three-day program includes visits to the MACBA, CaixaForum, Fundació Joan Miró, Fundació Antoni Tàpies, MNAC and the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, among others.
